Alabama State University physical therapy students worked with a new diagnostic ultrasound machine. It is designed for post-surgery treatment of ASU athletes. According to the release, the machine is currently being used as a training tool for students and also as part of post-surgery treatment for ASU athletes.

Mindray Medical International Limited announced that it will showcase the latest enhancements to the DC-8 ultrasound system at RSNA. The DC-8 v1.5 enhancements are designed to increase system performance in a wide variety of diagnostic imaging clinical applications.

The firefighter’s clinic in Tucson will install an ultrasound machine to detect heart problems. Jeff Burgess, a UA professor of public health and director of the Community, Environment and Policy Division in the College of Public Health, worked on a variety of studies pertaining to firefighters and said it is important to try to identify firefighters at risk for heart attacks because half of firefighter deaths in the line of duty are due to heart attacks.

Saskatchewan residents with MS can soon be evaluated by sonographers using Doppler ultrasound at Radiology Associates of Regina (RAR). Dr. Kunal Goyal believes RAR is the first site in the province to offer the service.

A COMBINED effort from three United Hospital Auxiliaries – Bowraville, Macksville and Nambucca Heads enabled the purchase of an ultrasound machine for Macksville Hospital. The cost of the new equipment was supported by the three auxiliaries and the Mid North Coast Local Health District.

InSightec Ltd announced that the FDA approved ExAblate MRI-guided focused ultrasound as a therapy to treat pain. Patients who do not respond or cannot undergo radiation treatment for their pain would use this therapy.

The U.S. Food and Drug Administration has approved the first ultrasound device to detect breast cancer in women with dense breast tissue, for use along with standard mammography for women with no symptoms of breast cancer, the agency announced Tuesday.

A new fetal and maternal medicine unit opened to patients in Cambridge. The unit is on the first floor of the £30m Rosie Hospital expansion, and provides space for new scanning equipment, five ultrasound rooms and a major treatment room.

SCGH is home to the State Cancer Centre, and Health Minister Kim Hames said Clarity put the WA public health system at the forefront of cancer treatment. The ultrasound machine at SCGH is the first of its kind in the southern hemisphere.
